Washington, DC

After leaving New York, I travelled onto Washington, DC. What a great place this was! I had been here many years ago as a kid, but had forgotten much of what I'd seen. I stayed in an RV campground north of the city, and took the subway into the heart of DC each day. All of the great monuments and museums were in an area called "The Mall", which was an area about 3 miles long by a half mile wide. I saw the Capitol building, Supreme court, the National Archives, Library of Congress, the Space and Flight Smithsonian Museum, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Momunment, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, WW II memorial, and the White House.

The one Smithsonian Museum that I wanted to see, the American History Museum, was closed for renovation. However, they moved some of the arifacts over to the Space and Flight museum, so I did get a chance to see some of those things, such as Archie Bunker's chair, the ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz, one of the first Swanson TV dinner trays, etc.

I had a really good time in DC. There was so much to see and there were many things I did not get to see. Here are the highlights...
